Operating From Love Rather Than Fear

Heart hands for love rather than fear

While you are waiting for the right person to come into your life, you may like to ask yourself whether you are operating from a basis of love rather than fear. You can ask yourself this question in relation to every decision you make, and about all areas of your life.

You may like to reflect back on previous relationships and decide whether you began each relationship because you were afraid of being alone or because your heart was full of the love of life and you felt drawn to share it with that particular person.

We are social creatures, so it is natural to dislike loneliness. It isn’t in our DNA to live our lives alone. And as books like “Lost Connections: Uncovering the Real Causes of Depression – and the Unexpected Solutions” by Johann Hari have so beautifully expressed, the way our modern societies are structured and run hasn’t helped us to easily fulfill our needs for connection.

How can you practice operating from a basis of love rather than fear?

Here are three things you might like to try:

  1. Get to know yourself better. Learn to love yourself and all your many facets. Appreciate the good things in your life. Do exercises like wishing good things for other people so you practice expanding your heart. Explore your interests and passions. Then you will have more to share.
  2. Enhance your connections with the people already in your life. Invite friends over for dinner or a cup of tea. Ask friends to go for a walk with you. The more you experience with other people, the more you will get to know them.
  3. Join interest groups. Toastmasters is a good group to join, because when people give speeches, they often talk about their own lives and you get to know them better. Or you may also like to try MeetUp Groups, sports groups, social dancing like Square Dancing, sustainability groups and other causes dear to your heart.

If you make the effort to express love, you may also find that you receive more love in return. And don’t forget to encourage your friends to join the Compatibility Club because the more members we have, the easier it will be to find perfect matches for everyone.
